Updated Skin Care Routine
Updated: Dec 4, 2019
I feel like when you have a great skin care routine, it is one of the most accomplishing feelings ever. Who wants to walk around with acne everywhere, dry skin, extra oily skin, etc....whatever your problem may be.
Men out there, if you are reading this, LET YOUR GIRL INVEST IN HER SKIN CARE.....no that $90 face mask is not too expensive.
I have worked years and years to try and clear up acne & my combination type skin. It just seems like everything I have been using never was FULLY working.
Don't be discouraged if you still haven't found a good system to use that helps---its taken me forever. But I thought I'd share what I finally found works for me right now. I am sure this will be ever changing, but I know what I need to look for in my products. && of course...you guys already know it is all NON-TOXIC. Why would I use anything else?
These products I am about to share with you, I do have a discount code for you all to use, so feel free to read through and scroll to the bottom to get a discount if you would like to try some of their products. The other stuff is just stuff I use from different brands that I find are just absolutely amazing.

A little background on my skin. I am prone to acne, I have some dry areas if I over cleanse, & I am oily fo sho. On top of it all, I am very sensitive! What else can we throw into the mix.
I can control the acne on my face except on my forehead. I have tweaked my diet, tried every product in the book....the acne on my forehead just hates me for life....until now.
Holy crap I am so happy that I have FINALLY found a way to clear up all these little bumps I was having on my forehead. HELLO bare skin!
First of all...cleansing
Lets talk about double cleansing. Have you ever washed your face, and then you went to go tone your face and you still had leftover makeup on? Yeah, no bueno.
I started double cleansing just here and there because I knew of how great it was to remove all the gunk from your skin so your pores can be open for your cleanser. However, each oil I have used up until this cleansing oil has broken me out or hasn't completely removed the makeup from my face.
All hail #primallypure cleansing oil *hands up in the aiiiiiiiiirrrrrrr*
This is made up of the perfect set of oils to really dissolve all your skin's impurities but it also will not strip your skin of its natural oils/sebum---which helps actually control the oil in your skin in the first place.
Ingredients: Castor Oil*, Sunflower Oil*, Jojoba Oil*, Baobab Oil*, Tamanu Oil*, Essential Oils of Orange*, Lavender*, Geranium* and Peppermint*
All organic baby. & all I do is rub about a quarter size in my palm and put it on my dry face. After I take a warm wash cloth and clean all the gunk off.
They have an oil for oily, normal, and combo skin I believe!
You can purchase this oil here! Best face oil EVAAA
Next part of my skin care is cleansing. So there are two separate parts of my day. Night cleansing and morning.
At night after oil cleansing, I use my Beauty Counter charcoal cleansing bar. You guys....I have tried every stinking charcoal product out there. Nothing works better than this. What are they doing? How are they making this stuff THIS good?
That bar at the top....there she is in all her glory! I bought a soap lifter off of amazon to help keep the life of my bars longer.
All I do is use a little bit of water, rub some of the soap in my hands and wash my face. Super easy. Face feels squeaky clean after!
Ingredients: Sodium Rapeseedate, Sodium Cocoate, Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Charcoal Powder, Sodium Citrate, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Water*, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Alcohol*, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract*, Tocopherol. *Organic/Biologique
In the morning, I will use Primally Pure's baby bar. I know that sounds weird, but it works SO well. It is great for sensitive skin as well. My skin feels very clean after using this. Not too tight, but you feel like it really cleaned everything as well.
Ingredients: Glycerin*, Coconut Oil*, Goat Milk*, Shea Butter*, Olive Oil*, Calendula*, Chamomile*, Lavender*, Sodium Lactate (liquid salt)
Just like with cleansing, I have two separate toners. Equally obsessed I would have to say!
We will start with night time toner.
I have tried many toners. Most dry you out to crisp bacon, or just don't do anything for you. This Art refreshing toner I get from Young Living is out of this world. Good for you ingredients, & if there is anything leftover after cleansing, it is sure to get it.
Ingredients: Water, Alcohol, Heptyl glucoside, Hamamelis virginiana (Witch hazel) water, Glycerin, Betaine, Mentha piperita† (Peppermint) oil, Santalum paniculatum† (Royal Hawaiian™ sandalwood) wood oil, Boswellia carterii (Frankincense) oil, Orchis mascula flower extract, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, Camellia sinensis (Green tea) leaf extract, Lavandula angustifolia† (Lavender) herb oil, Citrus limon† (Lemon) peel oil, Melissa officinalis† (Melissa) leaf oil
You can purchase it here ---> Toner
It is a little more pricey if you are not a member. If you are it is pretty decent for a toner! In addition, all YL's products are SUPER concentrated!
It does what it says it does. EVERYTHING. I swear by this stuff. I use it as a refresher sometimes under my arms if I am super sweaty that day, to heal any cuts and wounds, or to tone my face in the morning. Yipeee!
I think a major thing is the apple cider vinegar. Please go look up the benefits of apple cider vinegar. Balances pH for your skin, helps remove dead skin, antibacterial, antifungal, fights acne...so much more.
+ everything else in it is so good for skin. I can't get over it.
Ingredients: Lavender Hydrosol*, Distilled Water*, Witch Hazel*, Aloe Vera Juice*, Raw Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar*, Magnesium Oil, Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Essential Oils of Lavender* and Tea Tree*
Ah moisturizing can be hit or miss with my skin. With me being oily I need something that will keep me moisturized, but not help produce more oil. In addition I needed something that wont break me out. I have found my holy grail moisturizer. Thank you LORD for this stuff. I originally got it for my hair...but then I read that people were using it for their skin and healing their skin? GAME CHANGER.
This surprisingly does not make me greasy or make me break out whatsoever. I only purchased the smaller bottle for my hair, but now I need the bigger bottle.
I got this from the website, it explains the ingredients a lot better than I ever could!
Ingredients: Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil*, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Flower Extract1*, Olibanum2, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Corylus Americana (Hazel) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Oil3*. Calophyllum Tacamahaca Seed Oil4, Rosmarinun Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil*, Nelumbium Speciosum (Lotus) Flower Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil*, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil*, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil.
Safflower Seed Oil – is rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals, this is a mild, nearly odorless oil which absorbs quickly and is non-greasy. Evening Primrose Oil – is high in essential fatty acids, especially GLA or Gamma- linolenic acid. This oil exerts anti-inflammatory and other healing actions on and through the skin, and is particularly nourishing to nails, scalp, and hair. Macadamia Seed Oil – derived from the nut of a small evergreen tree, and is widely cultivated. This nourishing, vitamin-rich, light textured oil is used in emollients. Tamanu Oil – is a significant topical healing agent from the sacred tamanu tree. With its high levels of lipids, fatty acids and anti-inflammatory agents, it has tremendous anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. It has a mild, pleasant aroma and a luxurious feel, absorbing readily into the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. Hazel Seed Oil – obtained from the hazelnut tree, this is a light, non-greasy, toning oil for combination skin types. Orange Flower Oil – defines and intensifies curls and waves while providing a harmonizing and uplifting natural aromatic top note. Jojoba Seed Oil – this beautiful golden oil is extracted from the bean like seeds of the jojoba desert shrub. A soothing, non-greasy, nourishing oil for all skin types, this natural oil (actually liquid wax) most resembles our own skin oils. It is excellent for use in dry to normal skin and hair care. Rosemary Essential Oil – is known for its healthy influence on the scalp by increasing circulation which is beneficial for stimulating hair growth.
Specialty Items------Things that help too
These are just some random things I do to help my skin care in general.
For spot treatment: Tea Tree Oil from YL
To Prevent Wrinkles: Frankincense
I add a roller top for easy application too!
For undereye: Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream
Another game changer. It makes my under-eyes less puffy and bright too! It smells delicious may I say too?
Do it all serum:
I will use this sporadically. I made it myself.
I used a combination of: Lavender, Lemon, Tea Tree, Frank, Copaiba, and Grapeseed oil.
If you make something similar, please use good quality oils. Of course I am biased to YL, but that is only because I truly believe and trust their oils. If you have any questions on how to get these oils, I have a whole section here!
I was doing skin masks a couple times a week for a while there, however, May Lindstrom discontinued *temporarily* of her honey mud mask so I use this sparingly because it is so good! I am sure it will be back soon. This is a product I am not happy about spending on.....it's pretty pricey. All her products are, but they are so worth it.
Woweeeeee, that was a doozy. If you made it through...thank you! If I had a prize for everyone that read this I would give it all to ya.
I really hope speaking about my skincare can give you some ideas on whether these may work for you as well. All I can tell you is my skin is in the best condition it has ever been in and it has taken me SO long to perfect it. If you try these, let me know! I'd love to see them work for you as well.
