I'm not one to normally like regular spaghetti, however when it comes to it being baked and smothered in cheese.....I'm allllllll for it.
I added a twist to this ziti by adding in bone broth. I know that sounds out of ordinary, but when do I ever play by the book? When you use great ingredients, your food will be transformed. Don't be afraid to spend extra for kosher or organic. I promise you will taste the difference!
I started off with some Italian chicken sausage. I cannot find Italian turkey sausage for the life of me! Must be the recent recall. But chicken sausage works just as fine! You can always season it up just as I did. I added some garlic, italian seasoning and white pepper.
Next up is your sauce. I didn't take a picture of the bone broth but I added one cup of bone broth to a sauce pan and then added in my other ingredients.
All you need is one jar of organic pasta sauce + 1 can of fire roasted tomatoes. I cheated I get it, but to substitute the jar and can of tomatoes = tomato paste, fire roasted tomatoes and lots of seasoning.
Mix your sauce together well and add in a bunch of white pepper.
Chop up half of a medium sized yellow onion to add to the chicken sausage mixture. This will add some flavor to the pasta. I like to make sure they are caramelized of course!
After your pasta is boiled and done, start putting together the ziti.
Bake in an oven on 375 for 15 minutes. Make sure to add in mozzarella and fresh Parmesan cheese.
Seems plain but sometimes simplicity is the best way to go. We all love the classic recipes right?
